No-one really likes to purchase insurance, many people think it’s something they can do without until disaster strikes. Motorhome owners usually invest a substantial amount of money in their vehicles so it makes sense to buy the right insurance from reliable brokers as soon as possible. They can compare prices to give you a head start as well as tips and advice about motorhome insurance along with policy details.

Tips for motorhome insurance

As a motorhome owner don’t fall into the misconception of insuring your vehicle under a standard car policy, this is a common mistake, it may save you a little money however it will leave you uncovered should you have to make a claim. Think about what type of protection you need, examine the policy wording online or download it before making a final decision. Get several quotes on a similar policy and speak to a broker so nothing is overlooked regarding price and key insurance details. Check out the various discounts on offer too, they can be quite substantial but do make sure you qualify for motorhome insurance first, take a look at the criteria needed to buy the necessary insurance package. Reputable brokers offer discounts to policy holders who protect their investments with alarms or tracking devices, if you’ve installed equipment such as this then be sure to let them know, it can affect the premium price dramatically. If you travel often check out continental cover too, you wouldn’t want to be under-insured when abroad, in addition to this fully comprehensive insurance usually covers camping equipment along with personal possessions, consider this very carefully before making your choice.

Avoid Paying More

It’s wise to remember that patience and research is the key to competitive and quality motorhome insurance. Take your time, do your homework and then get in touch with a well-known online insurance broker, they can offer cost-effective packages to help you avoid paying more than you should for insurance policies.

What’s Included?

Take a look at what can be included in motorhome insurance policies, here are some of the key facts:

Breakdown cover throughout the UK and Europe

Unlimited windscreen and body glass cover

Personal effects and audio cover

Portable generator cover

Unlimited motorhome awnings and gas bottles cover

Replacement driver if the only driver is taken ill when travelling abroad

Legal protection

			By: Michael Ramsey

Binge eating disorder is a serious eating disorder in which you frequently consume unusually large amounts of food. Although almost everyone overeats on occasion, people who are suffering from binge eating disorder overeat as a regular habit. So, how do you know if you are in need of binge eating disorder help?

Well, people who binge eat periodically do not exercise control over consumption of food. They eat much more quickly during binge episodes than during normal eating episodes, eat an unusually large amount of food at one time far more than an average person would eat in the same amount of time, eat until they are physically uncomfortable and nauseated, eat when they are depressed or bored, eat large amounts of food even when they aren’t really hungry, and usually eat alone during binge eating episodes because of embarrassment. You can tell a person who has a binge eating when you notice rapid weight gain or a sudden onset of obesity.

Getting help for binge eating problems is important because it may be caused by brain chemistry and other things that are beyond someone’s control. A team of professionals such as doctors, counsellors, and nutrition experts can work hand in hand in order to help those who are suffering from binge eating disorder. These professionals will help them manage their eating, weight, and emotions. Psychologists and other therapies can help them learn healthy ways of coping with emotions, thoughts, and stress that often contribute to eating problems. Nutrition specialists or dieticians can help them develop healthy eating behaviors and learn about things like nutritional needs, portion sizes, metabolism, and exercise.

You see, trying to put a stop to this habit is more easily achieved when you have the support of people. We’re not just talking about health professionals, but friends and family as well. These people can provide the support and encouragement that people with binge eating disorder need to motivate themselves.

So if you are looking for binge eating disorder help, you have to remember that there is no quick fix for this condition. Treatment can take several months or longer, depending on how fast a person learns a healthier approach to food.

Unlocking The Skinny Code – Treatment For Binge Eating Disorder

			By: Michael Ramsey
Posted: Mar 31, 2011

Binge eating disorder is also known as compulsive eating behavior or emotional eating. It is the most common eating disorder, and people who are suffering from it should get help from a health care professional such as a psychiatrist, psychologist, or clinical social worker. A person who is suffering from binge eating disorder is seen to binge eat more than twice a week for six months or more, eat much more rapidly than normal, eat until uncomfortably full, eat large amounts of food even when not hungry, eat alone because of embarrassment, feel disgusted or ashamed after a binge eating episode, and gain weight excessively. Now, what is the treatment for binge eating disorder?

Well, there are a variety of treatment modalities that you can choose from. One is cognitive behavioral therapy. With this method, the person suffering from binge eating disorder is taught how to keep track of his eating and change his unhealthy eating habits. The person is taught how to change the way he acts in tough situations, and to feel better about his body shape and body weight. Another method is interpersonal psychotherapy, where the person is taught to look at his relationships with friends and family in order to identify problems, and then to make changes in those identified problem areas.

Drug therapy is also a common treatment modality for binge eating disorder. The drugs used may be antidepressants or even anti-seizure medications like topiramate. Other therapies include dialectical behavior therapy which helps people regulate their emotions, weight loss surgery or bariatric surgery, exercise, and self-help. People who binge eat can refer to self-help books, videos, or even groups wherein they can find the support they need.

All these methods seem to be equally helpful in trying to break the habit of binge eating. However, researchers are still trying to find the one which is most helpful in controlling the disorder. A combination of methods, such as combining drug therapy with behavioral therapy, has shown promising results for treating overweight and obese individuals with binge eating disorder.

So far, the best approach or treatment for binge eating disorder is combining at least two of the methods that were previously discussed.

Recipe for Making the Best Shepherds Pie

			By: Ralph Serpe
Posted: Aug 08, 2008
Views: 7,396

I was watching a show called Kitchen Nightmares the other night and in this particular episode, Chef Ramsay was helping out the owners of an Irish Pub in New York. One of the dishes Chef Ramsay cooked on this episode was Shepherds Pie. It looked and sounded absolutely delicious, so I figured I would give it a try.

Shepherds Pie or sometimes spelled Shepards Pie, is a dish that is served at pubs throughout England and Ireland. It is traditionally made with finely chopped or ground lamb topped with mashed potatoes. Ground or chopped beef is often substituted for the lamb. When beef is used, the dish is referred to as “Cottage Pie”.

I am not a big fan of Lamb, so I used ground beef in the recipe that follows. My wife and I absolutely loved this dish and will certainly make it again in the future. The ground beef was excellent, but I think the next time I make this, I will try using a braised beef instead. I am thinking that some left over meat from a pot roast would work wonderfully in this dish.

Well, let’s get on with the recipe shall we? I am quite confident that you and your family will fall in love with this dish and make it again and again.

Please forgive me if any of the measurements in this recipe are not spot on accurate. I rarely follow recipes and tend to taste as I go along. I recommend you do the same and try to use the ingredients below as a guide.

The Mashed Potatoes:

I experimented and used three types of dairy with the potatoes. The result was a very fluffy and creamy mashed potatoes which worked wonderfully with the rest of the ingredients. Again, the ingredients below are a guide. I would add a little of each ingredient at a time and taste as you go. Like it creamier? Then add a bit more cream. Need more salt? Add a bit more. You could add a touch of garlic powder or freshly roasted garlic to these potatoes as well for an exciting variation.

          ]]>

About 5 Potatoes (I use Russets) Peeled and Cut Into Cubes
2 Tablespoons Sour Cream
1 Tablespoons Softened Cream Cheese
1 Tablespoon Butter
Salt and Freshly Ground Black Pepper

Pie Filling:

2 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Pound Ground Beef or Lamb
2 Carrots Peeled and Chopped
1 Onion Chopped
About 1/2 Cup Frozen Peas

Gravy:

2 Tablespoons Butter
2 Tablespoons All Purpose Flour
1 Cup Beef Stock or Broth
A Healthy Squirt Worcestershire Sauce
1 Tsp Freshly Chopped Thyme

The Garnish:

Paprika
Freshly Chopped Parsley Leaves

Directions:

Get a pot large enough to hold your potatoes with room to spare and fill with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt to the water and then add your potatoes. Boil the potatoes in the salted water until tender. It should only take about 10-12 minutes. You can check the potatoes for doneness by piercing with a toothpick or fork. Drain the potatoes and add them to a large bowl. Add your sour cream, cream cheese, butter, salt and pepper. Mash the potatoes and stir until smooth. Set Aside.

While the potatoes are cooking, preheat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the oil to the pan, then add the ground beef or lamb. Season the meat with a bit of salt and pepper. Brown the meat, crumbling it as you brown. If you are using meat that is high in fat, try and spoon out some of the drippings as you cook.

Add your chopped carrots and onions to the ground beef. Cook your vegetables with the meat for 5 minutes or so, stirring often. You can then remove from heat.

Now we are going to make our gravy. Grab another skillet and over medium heat cook 2 tablespoons of butter and 2 tablespoons of flour together for a few minutes, stirring often. Make certain to keep an eye on this mixture because it can burn. If it burns, the butter can turn bitter, and you will have to start over. You will only need to cook the butter and flour for a minute or so until it mixes together and is smooth.

Add your beef broth or stock,Worcestershire Sauce, and fresh thyme to the flour and butter mixture. Stir and allow gravy to thicken. It should only take a minute or so.

Add the gravy to your meat and veggies and stir in your frozen peas.

Preheat your oven broiler to high.

Now grab a relatively small round or rectangular baking dish and fill it with your meat and veggie mixture.

Top the mixture with your mashed potatoes and spread evenly over the mixture. Sprinkle some paprika on top and broil around 5 – 6 inches from the heat until the potatoes are evenly browned.

Sprinkle some freshly chopped parsley on top and serve.

3 Easy but Delicious HCG Diet Recipes to Cook

‘Cravings’ and ‘urges’ are the part and parcel of any diet plan. If you are following the HCG diet protocol, it requires you to stringently follow the very low calorie diet of 500 calorie per day for a span of 40 days. This might become difficult to follow, after a few initial days. Any deviation from the VLCD will result in lesser weight loss, which is totally undesirable.

o ADIAI STEVENSON –” A politician is a statesman who approaches every question with an open mouth.” o ALAN WATTS –”Faith is, above all, openness; an act of trust in the unknown.” o ALBERT CAMUS –”In the depths of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” o ALEXANDRA LEDRU-ROLLIN –”There go the people, I must follow them for I am their leader.” o ANAIS NIN –”When we blindly adopt a religion, a political system, a literary dogma, we become automatons. We cease to grow.” o ANDY WARHOL –”They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” o ANNE BRADSTREET –”If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity won’t be so welcome.” o ARTHUR C CLARKE –”The only way of finding the limits of the possible Is by going beyond them into the impossible.” o BENJAMIN NETANYAHU –” I always lose the election in the polls, and.l always win it on election day.” o BIBLE –”Faith is the evidence of things that are not seen.” o BUDDHA –”If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.” o CHARLES DARWIN –” It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the ow which is most responsive to change.” o COUNTESS OF BLESSINGTON –” Prejudices are the chains forged by ignorance to keep men apart.” o FRANK MCKINNEY HUBBARD –” We would all like to vote for the best man but he is never a candidate.” o FRIEDRICH NIETZSCHE –”For every man there exists a bait which he cannot resist swallowing.” o GEORGE ELIOT –”Deep unspeakable suffering may well be called a baptism, a regeneration, the initiation into a new state.” o GEORGE MIKES –”Many continentals think ,iife is a game; the English think cricket is a game.”
o GEORGE ORWELL –”The great enemy of clear language is insincerity. When there is a gap between one’s real and one’s declared aims, one turns instinctively to long words and exhausted idioms, like a cuttlefish squirting out ink.”
o GOETHE –”Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do,”
o GOETHE –”Sometimes we become fully aware and realize that error as well as truth can move and spur us on to action. Now because action is always a decisive factor, something really good can result from an active error, because the effect of all that has been done reaches out into infinity. So although creative action is certainly always best, destroying what has been done is also not without happy consequence.”
o GORDON BROWN –”Now that people can communicate so easily and instantaneously across borders, cultures and faiths, we can be confident that, across the world, we are discovering that there is a shared moral sense. It is a sense strong enough to ensure the constant replenishment of that well of values upon which we depend and which must infuse the shared rules of our society. Can there be a shared global ethic that can lie behind global rules? Through each of our heritages, traditions and faiths, there runs a single powerful moral sense demanding responsibility from all and fairness to all. ”
o GRACE MCGARVIE –”Name it and blame it, doesn’t mean you solved it, nor owned it, nor changed it.” o GRANTLAND RICE –”For when the One Great Scorer comes to mark against your name, He writes — not that you won or lost — but how you played the Game.”
o GREETING CARD –”Climb every mountain in your life. You will reach the top. Best Wishes To You… in whatever you do.”
o GUATEMALAN PROVERB –”Everyone is the age of their heart.”
o GURU GOBIND SINGH –”The Khalsa is my own image. I shall always manifest myself in the Khalsa. The Khalsa is my body and soul; The Khalsa is the life of my life. The Khalsa is my perfect leader. The Khalsa is my brave friend. I say nothing untrue and to this; Guru Nanak, united with God, is my witness.” o GURU GOBIND SINGH –”Why impress false religion on the world? It will be of no service to it. Why run about for the sake of wealth? ou cannot escape from death. Son, wife, friends, disciples, companions none of those will bear witness for thee. Think, 0 think, you thoughtless fool, you shall have in the end to depart alone.”
o GURU GOBIND SINGH –”Without the support of the One Name, Consider all religious ceremonies superstitions., Karta the Creator and Karim the Beneficient are names of the same God. Razak the Provider and Rahim the Merciful are also the names given to Him. Let no one in error wrangle over differences in names. Worship the One God who is the Lord of all. Know that his form is one and He is the One light diffused in all.” o GURU GRANTH SAHIB –”If the mind becomes balanced and detached, and comes to dwell in its own true home, it comes to enjoy the essence of supreme spiritual wisdom.”
o HADITH OF ABU DAWUD –”Surely Allah will raise for this community at the beginning of every century one who shall revive for it its faith.”
o HADITH OF BAIHAQI –”Moses, son of Imran said, ‘My Lord, who is the greatest of Thy servants in Thy estimation?’ and received the reply, ‘The one who forgives when he is in a position of power.”
o HARRY S TRUMAN –”I would rather have-peace in the world than be president.” o HEMACHANDRA –”Lord Mahavira! Your word sometimes supports the view of providence, at other times calls events spontaneously occurring or ascribes destiny to external factors. At times you hold the deeds of individuals to be the mould of their desert, at other times find that another’s deeds project their moral reflection on the individual. The miracle is that none blames you for these paradoxical utterances!”
o HENNY YOUNGMAN –”If youre going to do something tonight that youll be sorry for tomorrow morning, sleep late.” o HENRI FREDERIC AMIEL –”In health there is freedom. Health is the first of all liberties.” o HENRI J M NOUWEN –”The spiritua! life does not remove us from the world but leadu us deeper into it. ” o HENRY D THOREAU –”A lake is the landscape’s most beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth’s eye; looking into, which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature… The lakes are something which you are unprepared for; they lie up so high, exposed to the light, and the forest is diminished to a fine fringe on their edges, with here and there a blue mountain, like amethyst jewels set around some jewel of the first water — so anterior, so superior, to all the changes that are to take place on their shores, even now civil and refined, and fair as they can ever be.”
o HENRY D THOREAU-”I went to the woods because i wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if i could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when i came to die, discover that i had not lived i did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did i wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms…”
o HENRY DAVID THOREAU –” Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around.” o HENRY ELLIS –”The place where optimism most flourishes is the lunatic asylum.” o HENRY FORD –”The question, “Who ought to be boss?” is like asking “Who ought to be the tenor in the quartet?” Obviously, the man who can sing tenor.”
o HENRY KISSINGER –”The illegal we do immediately. The unconstitutional takes a little longer.” o HENRY MILLER –”Confusion is a word we have invented for an order which is not understood.”
o HERMAN WOUK –”Income tax returns are the most imaginative fiction being written today.” o HILLARY CLINTON –”I think that the Pakistani government is basically abdicating to the Taliban and to the extremists.” o HOMER –”He saw the cities of many peoples and learnt their ways. He suffered many hardships on the high seas in his struggles to preserve his life and bring his comrades home.”
o HU SHIH –”Even the absolute universality of the law of causality does not necessarily limit a person’s freedom, because the law of causality not only enables him to explain the past and predict the future, but also encourages him to use his intelligence to create new causes and attain new results.”
o HU SHIH –”Even the absolute universality of the law of causality does not necessarily limit a person’s freedom, because the law of causality not only enables him to explain the past and predict the future, but also encourages him to use his intelligence to create new causes and attain new results.”
o I CHING –”Danger arises when a man feels secure in his position. Destruction i threatens when a man seeks to preserve his worldly estate. Confusion develops when ell man has put everything in order. Therefore, the superior man does not ^ forget danger in his security nor ruin when he is well-established, ,mor confusion when his affairs are in order.”
o I CORINTHIANS –”But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.”
o IBN AL’ARABI –”The Cosmos is His form The forms of the Cosmos are the manifest Reality, He being the manifest. He is also their inner essence, being also the unmanifest. He is the first, since He was when they were not, and also the Last, since in theirmanifestation He is the Essence.”
o IGBO PROVERB, NIGERIA –”God has both the yam and the knife; only those whom He gives a slice can eat!”
o INGRID BENGIS –”Words are a form of action, capable of influencing change.” o INGRID BERGMAN –”You must train your intuition — you must trust the small voice inside you which tells you exactly what to say, what to decide.”
o INSCRIPTION ON A ROMAN TOMBSTONE –”Do not pass by my epitaph, traveller. But having stopped, listen and learn, then go your way. There is no boat in Hades, no ferryman Charon, No caretaker Aiakos, no dog Cerberus. All we who are dead below Have become bones and ashes, but nothing else. I have spoken to you honestly, go on, traveller, Lest even while dead I seem loquacious to you.”
o INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR KRISHNA CONSCIOUSNESS –”There’s something captivating about the Hare Krishna chant. Is it the catchy tune or the fascinating way in which the words are repeated and reversed? People who chant Hare Krishna say both contribute to its appeal. But they know that the secret of the chant’s attraction is the quality of the sound itself. ”
o IRISH SAYING –”May you get all your wishes but one, so you always have something to strive for.”
o ISAIAH –”In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.”
o ITALIAN PROVERB –”Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back in the same box.” o IVERN BALL –”Most of us can read the writing on the wall; we just assume its addressed to someone else.” o JAIN DECLARATION ON NATURE –”The discipline of non-violence, the recognition of universal interdependence and the logic of the doctrine of manifold aspects, leads inexorably to the avoidance of unilateral attitudes. It inspires the personal quest of every Jain for Madhyastata (equanimity) towards both jiva (animate beings) and ajiva (inanimate substances and objects). It encourages an attitude of give and take and of live and let live. It offers a pragmatic peace plan based…on an equanimity of mind devoted to the preservation of the balance of the universe.”
o JAIN UNIVERSITY.ORG –”The universe and all its substances or entities are eternal. It has no beginning or end with respect to time. Universe runs on its own accord by its own cosmic laws… There is no need of someone to create or manage the affairs of the universe.” o JALALUDDIN RUMI –”Come out of the circle of time And into the circle of love.”
o JALALUDDIN RUMI –”Thinking gives off smoke to prove the existence of fire. A mystic sits inside the burning. There are wonderful shapes in rising smoke that imagination loves to watch. But it’s a mistake to leave the fire for that filmy sight. Stay here at the flame’s core.” o JAMES –”Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it — he will be blessed in. what he does.”
o JAMES –”Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?”
o JAMES APPATHURAI –”We should all be concerned by a situation in which extremists would have a safe haven.” o JAMES ARRAJ –”Eaith is a highly distinctive kind of knowledge, a knowledge that works through love, through the heart, and because we misunderstand the nature of this knowledge we resist it, or fail to respond fully to its mysterious call… how can we reconcile reason and faith, certitude and freedom?”
o JAMES ARRAJ –”Faith is a highly distinctive kind of knowledge, a knowledge that works through love, through the heart, andbecause we misunderstand the nature of this knowledge we resist it, or fail to respond fully to its mysterious call… How can we reason and faith, certitude and freedom?” o JAMES ARTHUR BALDWIN –”Money wAs exactly like sex, you thought nothing else if you didn’t have it andthought-ofother things if you did.” o JAMES BALDWIN –”An identity is questioned only when it is menaced, as when the mighty begin to fall, or when the wretched begin to rise, or when the stranger enters the gates, never, thereafter, to be a stranger…. Identity would seem to be the garment with which one covers the nakedness of the self: in which case, it is best that the garment be loose, a little like the robes of the desert, through which one’s nakedness can always be felt, and, sometimes, discerned. This trust in one’s nakedness is all that gives one the power to change one’s robes.”
o JAMES DEAN –” Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today.” o JAMES HOWELL –”God comes at last when we think he is farthest off.” o JAMES MICHENER –”Like almost every major prophet before him, Muhammad fought shy of serving as the transmitter of God’s word sensing his own inadequacy… but he began to dictate those inspired words… “There is one God”. In all things Muhammad was profoundly practical. When his beloved son Ibrahim died, an eclipse occurred and rumours of God’s personal condolence quickly arose. Whereupon Muhammad is said to have announced, “An eclipse is a phenomenon of nature. It is foolish to attribute such things to the death or birth of a human being.” At Muhammad’s own death an attempt was made to deify him, but the man who was to become his administrative successor killed the hysteria with one of the noblest speeches in religious history: “If there are any among you who worshipped Muhammad, he is dead. But if it is God you Worshipped, He lives for ever.”
o JAMES OTIS –”I have never been able to do what i wished with them (Gandhi’s articles), which is have them out for a world audience. I don’t want them to be simply irrelevant possessions, which of course Gandhi would have thought they are — he would have laughed… he never believed in material possessions.”
o JAMES OTIS –”I hope Obama will buy the items and put them on display in Washington DC. I just want these things to live and breathe Gandhi’s messages, his words and his actions. The focus needs to be not on these possessions. Gandhi never believed in possessions, although he believed in auctions; Gandhi auctioned off many of his gifts for good causes and believed in the competitive good nature of bidding in auctions as long as the money went to good causes. I promise you the money i earn from this auction is going to good causes.”
o JAMI –”Who is man? The reflection of the Eternal Light. What is the world? wave on the Everlasting Sea. How could the reflection be cut off from the Light? How could the wave be separate from the Sea? Know that this reflection and this wave are that very Light and Sea.”
o JAPANESE PROVERB –”One kind word can warm three winter months.” o JAPANESE PROVERB –”One kind word can warm three winter months.”
o JAWAHARLAL NEHRU –”A leader or a man of action in a crisis almost always acts subconsciously and then thinks of the reasons for his actions.”
o JAWAHARLAL NEHRU –”We take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity.”
o JEAN BAUDRILLARD –”Holidays are in no sense an alternative to the congestion and bustle of cities and work. Quite the contrary People look to escape into an intensification of the conditions of ordinary life, into a deliberate aggravation of those conditions… to well above average levels of stress, pressure, and monotony… No one is interested in overcoming alienation; the point is to plunge into it to the point of ecstasy That is what holidays are for.”
o JEAN HOUSTON –”At the height of laughter, the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities.” o JEANCOCTEAU –” Mirrors should think longer before they reflect.” o JEREMY BENTHAM –”Without publicity, no good is permanent; under the auspices of publicity no evil can continue.”
o JERRY SEINF ELD –”What would the world be like if people said whatever they were thinking, all the time, whenever it came to them?” o JESSE JACKSON –”Leadership has a harder job to do than just choose sides. It must bring sides together.”
o JEWISH PROVERB –”A mother understands what a child does not say.”
o JIDDU KRISHNAMURTI –”We have invented god. The thinking created god for itself. That means, due to unhappiness, fear and depression we created something, called god. When you are free of fear, free of suffering, there is no desire for a god.”
o JIM ROHN –”I have found in life that if you want a miracle you first need to do whatever it is you can do — if that’s to plant, then plant; if it is to read, then read; if it is to change, then change; if it is to study then study; if it is to work, then work; whatever you have to do. And then you will be well on your way of doing the labour that works miracles.”
o JOHANN WOLFGANG VON GOETHE –”Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.” o JOHANN WOLFGANG VON GOETHE –”Sometimes our fate resembles a fruit tree in winter. Who would think that those branches woul turn green again and blossom, but we hope it, we know it.” o JOHN BURROUGHS –”The tendinous part of the mind, so to speak, is more developed in winter; the fleshy, in summer. I should say winter had given the bone and sinew to literature, summer the tissues and the blood.” o JOHN FOWLES –”Men see objects, women see the relationship between objects. Whether the objects need each other, love each other, match each other. It is an extra dimension of feeling we men are without and one that makes war abhorrent to all real women — and absurd.”
o JOHN HUGHES –”In describing the nature of reality the Kashmir Shaiva explains that there is only One Being, called Lord Shiva. This Being is the nature and existence of all beings. This Being is defined as being filled with the nfinite light (prakasa) of God Consciousness. The Shaiva also holds that the objective world, although experienced as separate from one’s self, does not have a separate existence. It is the energy (Shakti) of Shiva. Although one might conclude that the world is separate from his energy, thinking that his energy is the separate formal cause of the objective world. It is not. The objective world, comprised of the collection of objects, cognitions, and limited subjects, is nothing more than the expansion of the divine Shakti. It is not separate from Shiva’s energy Lord Shiva is the energy holder (Shaktiman) and the objective universe is his energy, his Shakti.”
o JOHN KEATING –”Sucking the marrow out of life doesn’t mean choking on the bone.”
o JOHN LENNON –”The pressures of being a parent are equal to any pressure on earth. To be a conscious parent, and really look to that little being’s mental and physical health, is a responsibility which most of us, including me, avoid most of the time because it’s too hard.” o JOHN MCNULTY –”The cow is nothing but a machine which makes grass fit for us people to eat.” o JOHN MILTON –”The melting voice through mazes running; Untwisting all the chains that tie The hidden soul of harmony.”
o JOHN RUSKIN –”Colour is, in brief terms, the type of love. Hence it is especially connected with the blossoming of the earth; and again, with its fruits; also, with the spring and fall of the leaf, and with the morning and evening of the day, in order to show the waiting of love about the birth and death of man.”
o JOHN STEINBECK –”The American standard translation orders men to triumph over sin… The King James’s translation makes a promise in ‘Thou shalt’, meaning that men will surely triumph over sin. But in Hebrew, a choice is given: ‘Thou mayest’. It might be the most important word in the world. That says the way is open…”
o JOSEPH BARTH –”Marriage is our fast, best chance to grow up.” o JOSH BILLINGS –”If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”
o JOSH BILLINGS –”Silence is one of the hardest arguments to refute.”
o JULES RENARD –”The only man who is really free is the one who can turn down an invitation to dinner without giving an excuse.” o KAHLIL GIBRAN –” We choose our joys and ‘sorrows long before we experience them.”
o KAHLIL GIBRAN –”Doubt is a pain too lonely to know that faith is his twin brother.” o KAJOL –”On certain days, i am happy energetic, confident and on some others, i am not. Every day, you eventually strive to be whatever you wish to be. And i think it’s an ongoing struggle for everybody Nobody is completely balanced, completely happy or completely sad. think it’s really a struggle every day to be as complete a human being as you can. And isn’t that the beauty of life? To me, menial health and mental peace are more important than physical fitness. If you accept yourself and feel good about it, you will remain fit. Whether you are fat or thin, short or tall, dark or fair-skinned — at the end of the day it does not really matter as long as you like yourself, accept yourself. What matters is how you are on the inside. At the core we are all energy This energy is beyond definitions. It is intangible and cannot be described. As long as we know that this part of us is healthy we are healthy.”
o KASHMIR SHIVA SUTRAS –”Universal Consciousness is one’s own nature. Knowing the individual consciousness as one’s own nature and not knowing the Universal Consciousness as one’s own nature, is bondage. Differentiated perception and the field of individual activities are also bondage.”
o KATHA UPANISHAD –”Fools dwelling in darkness, but thinking themselves wise and erudite, go round and round, by various tortuous paths, like the blind led by the blind.”
o KATHA UPANISHAD –”Nachiketa: There is no fear in heaven: old age and death are not there. The good, beyond both, rejoice in heaven, beyond hunger and thirst and sorrow. And those in heaven attain immortality You know, O* Death, that sacred fire which leads to heaven. Explain it to me, since I have faith. Be this my second boon. Death: I know, Nachiketa, that sacred fire which leads to heaven. Listen. That fire which is the means of attaining the infinite worlds, and is also their foundation, is hidden in the sacred place of the heart.”
o KATHA UPANISHAD –”One calm and controlling Spirit within all creatures that makes one form into many fashions: the calm and the strong who see Him in their self as in a mirror, theirs is eternal felicity and ’tis not for others. The One Eternal is the transient, the One consciousness in many conscious beings, who being One orders the desires of the many: the calm and strong who behold Him in their self as in a mirror, theirs is eternal peace and ’tis not for others.”
o KATHARINE WHITEHORN –”If Christmas did not exist it would be necessary to invent it.”
o KAUTILYA –”All state activities depend first on the treasury Therefore, utmost attention has to be devoted to a balanced budget… Wealth will slip away from that childish man who constantly consults the stars. The only guiding star of wealth is wealth itself; what can the stars of the sky do? Just as elephants are needed to catch elephants, so does one need wealth to capture more wealth… Obstruction, misuse of government property and false accounting by government servants lead to a reduction of wealth.”
o KEITH RICHARDS –”I’ve never had a problem with drugs. Ive had problems with the police.” o KENN NESBITT –”I tripped and dropped my homework/in the soup my mom was cooking/My brother flushed it down the toilet/when I wasn’t looking.” o KISHORE ASTHANA –”Dreamer i am/ Through and through/1 dream a me/ And dream a you/often dream/ Worlds anew/And all think/ They really are. No logic lives/ No minutes march/ All is now/ No future, past/ make things/ Which will not last/ And games are played/Of zero sums. Life and death/ Pass me by/ In bridal veils/ Hesitant, shy/1 make them laugh/1 make them cry/ And go on/ My merry way.”
o KISHORE ASTHANA –”Useless are your pilgrimages galore If your tho ghts remain as before And useless is a whole month’s fast If your mind continues its merry repast Of what use is your sacrificial fire If it doesn’t burn your base desire And God will surely set your prayers aside If you visit a temple and then show pride Your pilgrimages, fasts, worship, sacrifice All these will never suffice If your conduct continues to remain the same For then these are not holy. They’re just a game.”
o KOFI ANNAN –”The first condition for success is leadership at every level.”
o KT PANDURANGI –”When Arjuna hesitates to fight on seeing his gurus, relatives and others closely associated with him, Sri Krishna delivered Gitopadesha and’ helped him to realize that everything is under the control of Supreme God and he has to discharge his duty in dedication to Him.”
o KULARNAVA TANTRA –”Before adversities arrive, before the limbs de cay, achieve thy weal.”
o KULARNAVA TANTRA –”Even a hundred years of life is too little. Sleep takes away half of it and the other half is expended in childhood, disease, misery, old age.”
o KULARNAVA TANTRA –”Many are the gurus who are proficient to the utmost in Vedas and Shastras; but rare is the guru who has attained to the supreme truth. Many are the gurus on earth who give what is other than the self; but rare is the guru who brings to light the atman. He is the guru by whose very contact there flows the supreme bliss; the intelligent man shall choose such a one as the guru” and no other.”
o LALLESHWARI(LALDED) –”I, Lalla, entered through the garden of my soul, Lo! I saw Shiva and Shakti rolled in one, Overwhelmed with joy, i got immersed there itself.”
o LAO TZU –”In the pursuit of learning, every day something is acquired./ In the pursuit of Tao, every day something is given away.”
o LAO TZU –”In the pursuit of learning, every day something is acquired. In the pursuit of Tao, every day something is given away… When we give away everything, something surprising happens….”
o LAO TZU –”The greatest leader forgets himself And attends to the development of others. Good leaders support excellent workers. Great leaders support the bottom 10 per cent.”
o LAO TZU –”The higher the sun ariseth, the less shadow doth he cast; even so the greater is the goodness, the less doth it covet praise; yet cannot avoid its rewards in honours.
o LAWRENCE DURRELL –”A woman s best love letters are always written to the man she is betraying” o LAWRENCE GLICKMAN –”During economically depressed periods, people) are far more aware of the power of their dollars… That ethos — recognizing consumer power even as people buy less — is resurfacing now.”
o LEIGHTON FORD –”God loves us the way we are but He loves us too much to leave us that way.” o LI PO –”The paired butterflies are already yellow with August/ Over the grass in the West garden/They hurt me. I grow older.” o LORD ACTON –”Everything secret degenerates, even the administration of justice; nothing is safe that does not show it can bear discussion and publicity.”
o LOUIS BRANDEIS –”The most important political office is that of the private citizen.” o LUKE –”Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, nor grapes from briers. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks. “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”
o M K GANDHI –”As long as you derive inner help and comfort from anything, keep it.”
o M K GANDHI –”Force, violence, pressure, or compulsior with a view to conformit are both uncivilized and undemocratic.”
o M K GANDHI –”The control of the palate is a valuable aid for the control of the mind.”
o M K GANDHI –”Three-quarters of the miseries and misunderstandings in the world would finish if people were to put on the shoes of thenadversaries and understood their points of view.”
o M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN –”There’s a monster outside my room, can I have a glass of water?” o M.C. ESCHER –”Are you really sure that a floor can’t also be a ceiling?” o MADHAV PUNDALIK PANDIT –”As things stand organised at present in the terrestrial world, it is the forces of ignorance, falsehood, suffering and death that hold sway over the hosts of light. Things can go wrong at any moment and life is under continual threat of subdual and extinction./Each moment lived in peace and health is a moment gained and it is wisdom to utilise it to the utmost progression of one’s true wellbeing. Once the wheel of fate turns, once the body begins to fail, the opportunity is no more. Therefore we should exert to the full when circumstances are favourable, stretch the bright span as far as possible, and save ourselves from future regrets.”
o MADHAV PUNDALIK PANDIT –”The root of all bondage is the identification of yourself with all that is really not you. With identifica-tion arises involvement. From involvement springs attachment, and from attachment arises bondage. That is how the being of man is roped into bondage by the action of the ego in attaching itself to the objects of life with proprietorship claims. The release can come only when with the dawn of knowledge man realizes that he has no real claim on anything in the world, and that his natural stat is one for freedom from all involvement. It is ignorance that makes him identify himself with objects and suffer relations which holds him captive.”
o MADHAV PUNDALIK PANDIT –”We are apt to take things too leisurely thinking that the whole of life is before us. In truth, however, the time we have is too little, briefer than we imagine. Even if the proverbial span of hundred years is given to one to live, how much of it can be actually utilised to achieve the purpose of life?”
o MAE WEST –”I have always felt a gift diamond shines so much better than ane you buy for yourself.” o MAHARISHI MAHESH YOGI –”The important thing is this: to be able, at any moment, to sacrifice what we are for what we could become.”
o MAHARSHI MAHESH YOGI –”Knowledge is structured in consciousness. The process of education takes place in the field of consciousness; the prerequisite to complete education is therefore the full development of consciousness — enlightenment. Knowledge is not the basis of enlightenment, enlightenment is the basis of knowledge.” o MAHATMA GANDHI –”A leader is useless when he acts against the promptings of his own conscience.
o MAHATMA GANDHI –”Ahimsa is the attribute of the soul, and therefore, to be practiced by everybody in all affairs of life. If it cannot be practised in all departments, it has no practical value.”
o MAHATMA GANDHI –”All compromise is based on give and take, but there can be no give and take on fundamentals. Any compromise on mere fundamentals is a surrender. For it is all give and no take.”
o MAHATMA GANDHI –”Non-violence is the . article of faith.”
o MAHATMA GANDHI –”Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one’s weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart.”
o MAHATMA GANDHI –”Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.”
o MAHATMA GANDHI –”The sacrifice which causes sorrow to the doer of the sacrifice is no sacrifice. Real sacrifice lightens the mind of the doer and gives him a sense of peace and joy The Buddha gave up the pleasures of life because they had become painful to him.”
o MALTESE SAYING –”Better one word too few than one word too many.”
o MANJIT BAWA –”A greater part of my early years was spent in observing nature. As i travelled through the length and breadth of my country, on foot or by cycle, carrying my meagre provisions and possessions in my backpack, as a young lad of 14 or 15, i was constantly in communioni with nature. It was an intensely joyous experience to wake up to birdsong and sleep under open skies during my travels. Realising that the magnificent vistas of mountain peaks and desert tracks would blur ultimately and would be no longer as clearly focused as i grew older, i filled sketch books and rough pages with innumerable strokeful landscapes. I still have a few to remind me of that time when our young hearts were bursting with pulsating excitement that energized our art with a life of its own… I find a wealth of wisdom in the scriptures.
				Guard Your Words

The person who is a master in the art of living makes little distinction between their work and their play, their labour and their leisure, their mind and their body, their education and their recreation, their love and their religion. They hardly know which is which. They simply pursue their vision of excellence and grace in whatever they do, leaving others to decide whether they are working or playing. To them, they are always doing both.

		Super Bowl XXV

      Background

NFL owners voted to award Super Bowl XXV to Tampa during a May 20, 1987 meeting. This was the second time that Tampa hosted the game; the city previously hosted Super Bowl XVIII on January 22, 1984.

The Bills and the Giants entered the game using contrasting styles: While the Bills led the league in total points scored (428), the Giants led the league in fewest points allowed (211).

New York Giants

Main article: 1990 New York Giants season

The 1990 New York Giants were built to head coach Bill Parcells’ specifications of “power football”: a powerful defense and an offense that sustained extremely long drives. The Giants’ defense ranked second in the league in fewest total yards allowed (4,392) and first in fewest points allowed, and boasted three Pro Bowl selections: defensive tackle Erik Howard, and linebackers Pepper Johnson and Lawrence Taylor. The secondary was led by defensive back Everson Walls, an offseason acquisition from the Dallas Cowboys, who recorded 6 interceptions. The Giants’ offense was unspectacular, ranking just 17th in the league in yards gained and 13th in points scored. But they wore down opposing teams’ defenses with extremely long drives, thus keeping their opponents’ offense on the sidelines and preventing them from scoring. More importantly, the Giants set an NFL record by losing only 14 turnovers in a 16-game regular season. A big reason for the team’s offensive success was the blocking of linemen Bart Oates and William Roberts, the only Pro Bowlers on the offense. Kick returner Dave Meggett led the NFL in punt return yards (467), while also gaining 492 yards on kickoff returns, rushing for 164 yards, and catching 39 passes for 410 yards.

New York began the regular season by winning their first 10 games, and then went into a tailspin and lost three of their next four. One week after losing to the division rival Philadelphia Eagles, 3113, the 101 Giants were defeated on Monday Night Football in a 73 defensive battle with the 101 San Francisco 49ers, who had won the previous two Super Bowls and ultimately finished the regular season with an NFL best 142 record. Then, in their 1713 loss to the Bills, New York suffered a major setback when starting quarterback Phil Simms went down for the season with a broken bone in his foot.

Simms’ replacement, Jeff Hostetler, had started only two games in his seven years as a backup with the Giants. However, Hostetler displayed fine passing and scrambling ability in his limited playing time during the season, and threw only one interception and committed no fumbles. With Hostetler at the helm, the Giants responded by winning their final two games to finish the regular season 133, good enough to win the NFC East and earn the second seed in the NFC playoffs.

Buffalo Bills

Main article: 1990 Buffalo Bills season

The Bills had a very talented team with 9 Pro Bowl selections on their roster. Their defense was led by defensive end Bruce Smith, who recorded 19 sacks and won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award. Behind him, 3 of the Bills starting linebackers, Darryl Talley, Shane Conlan, and Cornelius Bennett, were selected to the Pro Bowl. And on special teams, Pro Bowler Steve Tasker was a major threat, forcing fumbles, delivering jarring tackles, and blocking kicks.

But as good as their defense was, it was the Bills’ flashy, high-powered offense that gained the most attention. Unlike the Giants, the Bills routinely used the no-huddle offense to storm down the field and score points very quickly. Instead of going into a huddle after each play, quarterback Jim Kelly would immediately send his offense back to the line of scrimmage and call the play there after reading the defense. This strategy prevented opposing defenses from properly reading the Bills formation, making substitutions, or even catching their breath.

The Bills’ no-huddle K-Gun offense worked well enough for Kelly to finish the regular season as the top rated quarterback in the NFL (101.2), throwing for 2,829 yards, 24 touchdowns, and only 9 interceptions. One reason for his success was that he had 2 outstanding wide receivers: Andre Reed, who made his specialty going across the middle on slants and crossing routes, recorded 71 receptions, 945 yards, and 8 touchdowns, and future hall of famer James Lofton, who was the deep threat with 35 receptions for 712 yards (a 20.3 yards per catch average). Tight end Keith McKeller contributed 34 receptions for 464 yards and 5 touchdowns. Pro Bowl running back Thurman Thomas had 1,297 rushing yards, caught 49 passes for 532 yards, and scored 13 touchdowns. Thomas led the NFL in yards from scrimmage. A key to the Bills’ prolific offense was the blocking of its superb offensive line, led by All-Pro center Kent Hull and Pro Bowl guard Will Wolford.

Even though Kelly missed the last 2 games of the season with a knee injury, suffered in the same game in which the Giants lost Simms, the Bills finished with a 133 regular season record.

Playoffs

See also: NFL playoffs, 1990-91

The Giants began their championship postseason run by easily eliminating the Chicago Bears, 313. In leading the Giants’ “power football” offense, Hostetler threw only 17 passes, but two went for touchdowns and he committed no turnovers. He also directed a rushing attack that gained 194 yards, including 43 (and a touchdown) from Hostetler himself. But New York lost another key player for the season when rookie running back Rodney Hampton, the team’s second leading rusher during the regular season with 455 yards, suffered a broken leg.

The following Sunday, the Giants upset the San Francisco 49ers, 1513, in the NFC Championship Game. The 49ers, an NFL-best 142 in the regular season and winners of the last two Super Bowls, were 6 point favorites at kickoff. Their outstanding defense was led by future Hall of Fame defensive back Ronnie Lott and linebacker Charles Haley, who led the NFC in sacks. San Francisco’s offense was considered the best in the NFC, led by future Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana and wide receiver Jerry Rice. However, with the exception of a 61-yard touchdown pass from Montana to wide receiver John Taylor, the Giants contained the 49ers’ offense extremely well. A sack by Giants’ defensive end Leonard Marshall early in the fourth quarter knocked Montana out of the game. Despite their great defensive effort, the Giants still trailed 13-9 late in the fourth quarter, but a 30-yard run from linebacker Gary Reasons on a fake punt set up kicker Matt Bahr’s fourth field goal, cutting their deficit to 13-12. The 49ers (now led by Steve Young) tried to run out the clock on their ensuing possession, but San Francisco running back Roger Craig had the ball dislodged by nosetackle Eric Howard, and Lawrence Taylor recovered the fumble in mid-air with 2:36 remaining. Five plays later, Bahr kicked his 5th field goal, a 41-yarder, as time expired to give New York the win.

As for the Bills, Jim Kelly returned from his injury to lead Buffalo to a 4434 playoff victory over the Miami Dolphins. The Bills jumped to an early 203 lead, but Miami quarterback Dan Marino rallied his team back and cut Buffalo’s lead to 30-27 going into the fourth quarter. However, Buffalo scored a touchdown on their first drive of the period with a five-yard run by Thurman Thomas. Miami then lost a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, allowing the Bills to put the game away with Kelly’s 26-yard touchdown pass to Andre Reed. Kelly finished the game with 336 passing yards, three touchdowns, and 37 rushing yards. Reed was also a big factor, recording 123 receiving yards and a pair of touchdown catches. Lofton caught 7 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown. Thomas led the Bills ground attack with 32 carries for 117 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns, while also catching 3 passes for 38 yards.

Buffalo then crushed the Los Angeles Raiders 513, the most lopsided score in AFC Championship Game history. The Bills’ defense dominated the Raiders’ offense, which was without running back Bo Jackson, who suffered a career-ending injury against the Cincinnati Bengals the week before, limiting them to an early field goal and intercepting five passes from quarterback Jay Schroeder. Meanwhile, the Bills’ offense set an NFL playoff record with 41 points in the first half, putting the game out of reach by halftime. Kelly was 17 of 23 for 300 yards passing, and two touchdowns to James Lofton. Thomas had 138 yards rushing, 61 yards receiving, and his backup, Kenneth Davis, tied a playoff record with three touchdowns.

Super Bowl pregame news

The Bills were heavily favored to win Super Bowl XXV. Most experts expected that the Giants defense would not be able to contain the Bills’ turbo-charged, no-huddle offense, which had scored 95 points in 2 playoff games. Many also questioned how effective the Giants’ offense would be after failing to score a single touchdown in the NFC Championship Game. Also, in week 15 of the regular season, the two teams met at Giants Stadium where the Bills defeated the Giants 1713.

Due to threats of terrorism associated with the Gulf War, extra security measures were put in place at Tampa Stadium, including the positioning of FBI sharpshooters at the upper levels of the stadium.

For the first time, each player wore a Super Bowl logo patch on his jersey. This would not become a regular practice in Super Bowls until Super Bowl XXXI. The Super Bowl XXV logo was painted at midfield and the NFL logo was placed at each of the two 35-yard lines. For the past Super Bowl games since Super Bowl VI, the NFL logo was painted on the 50-yard line.

Television and entertainment

The game was broadcast in the United States by ABC with play-by-play announcer Al Michaels and color commentators Frank Gifford and Dan Dierdorf. Brent Musburger hosted all the events with the help of then-ABC Sports analysts Lynn Swann and Dick Vermeil, Musburger’s regular color commentator on ABC’s college football telecasts. Also sponsors Coca-Cola and Diet Pepsi had to withdraw planned contest promotions or ads due to the Gulf War situation. The game was broadcast in the United Kingdom on Channel 4 and in Canada on CTV. Because of the Gulf War situation, this marked the first time the Super Bowl would be broadcast in most countries around the world. Outside of North America and England, this Super Bowl was broadcast for the first time in such countries as Mexico (Canal de las Estrellas), Australia, Russia, and most other countries.

Singer Whitney Houston’s rendition of the national anthem during Super Bowl XXV, backed by the Florida Orchestra, was later released as a single, where it reached number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the only artist to turn the national anthem into a hit single.[citation needed] The single was also reissued after the September 11, 2001 attacks a decade later and charted even higher on the Hot 100, reaching number six.

Former NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle joined the coin toss ceremony.

Halftime show

The halftime show was titled “A Small World Salute to 25 Years of the Super Bowl”. It was produced by Disney and featured over 3,500 local children from different ethnic backgrounds and a performance by boy band New Kids on the Block, with special guest Warren Moon.

ABC did not broadcast the halftime show live. Instead, they televised a special ABC News report anchored by Peter Jennings on the progress of the Gulf War. The halftime show was later shown on tape delay after the game, although most ABC affiliates ran the first episode of Davis Rules following the broadcast.

After the game

This Super Bowl was the inspiration for the Ray Finkle character in the 1994 movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detective[citation needed] and provided a critical plot point for the 1998 Vincent Gallo film Buffalo ’66.

In an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond, Ray and Debra are watching their wedding video when all of a sudden the tape cuts to the opening kickoff of the game. Debra says “Did you hit something?” Ray says no, then Debra says, “Then why am I seeing football?” Later on in the episode, Ray has a group of his friends over to watch the tape of the game, and just as Scott Norwood misses his kick, the tape cuts back to the wedding, to the dismay of his friends. Ray says “We all know what happened.” One of his friends (The Priest) then said, “I forgot.”

Game summary

To counteract the Bills’ no-huddle offense, the Giants’ strategy was to use a power running game utilizing O.J. Anderson, aided by quarterback rollouts, bootlegs, and play-action fakes. As tight end Mark Bavaro later recalled, “[w]e came out with three tight ends, fat slobs picking you up and moving you and letting you tackle O.J., if you could.” This enabled them to take time off the clock and limit Buffalo’s possessions. The Giants set a Super Bowl record for time of possession with 40 minutes, 33 seconds, including 22 minutes in the second half. On defense, New York wanted to be physical with Buffalo’s wideouts, and play with extra defensive backs to concentrate on stopping the Bills passing game, while conceding the running game.

The contrast in strategies was evident during the first period. After forcing the Bills to punt on the opening drive of the game, the Giants consumed 6:15 off the clock by marching 58 yards in 10 plays to score on a 28-yard field goal from Matt Bahr. In that drive, New York ran five rushing plays and five passing plays. But the Bills struck right back on their ensuing possession with a five-play, 66-yard drive that took 1:23 off the clock, including a tipped 61-yard completion from quarterback Jim Kelly to receiver James Lofton that set up Scott Norwood’s 23-yard field goal to tie the game at 3-3.

After forcing the Giants to punt on their ensuing possession, the Bills’ offensive strategy started to work to perfection. Kelly led the Bills on a 12-play, 80-yard scoring drive that consumed 4:27 and moved the ball so effectively that the team never faced a third down. Kelly completed six consecutive passes (four to Andre Reed) for 62 yards, and running back Don Smith capped it off with a one-yard touchdown run to give Buffalo a 10-3 lead. Smith’s 1-yard touchdown run was his only carry of the game and the last carry of his career. Reed’s 5 first quarter receptions were a Super Bowl record.

After trading punts, the Giants were pinned at their own 7-yard line. On second down, defensive lineman Bruce Smith sacked quarterback Jeff Hostetler in the end zone for a safety, increasing the Bills’ lead 12-3. On the play, Smith had a chance to force a fumble since Hostetler was holding the football with only his throwing hand. But to his credit, Hostetler held the ball away from Smith, helping to ensure that only 2 points would be surrendered.

The Bills started out on their next drive with great field position following the free kick, but were forced to punt after 3 plays. Taking the ball at their own 13-yard line with 3:43 left in the second quarter, the Giants abandoned their long drive strategy and employed a quick strike attack of their own. Hostetler led the Giants 87 yards, scoring on a 14-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Stephen Baker with just 25 seconds left in the half to cut New York’s deficit to 12-10.

The Giants opened the third quarter and resumed their original game strategy by driving 75 yards in 14 plays to score on Ottis Anderson’s one-yard touchdown run, taking the lead at 17-12. The drive consumed a then Super Bowl record nine minutes and 29 seconds (since surpassed by the Giants in Super Bowl XLII), and included four successful third down conversions. The highlight was a 14 yard pass to wide receiver Mark Ingram on 3rd down and 13 yards to go. Ingram caught a short pass and broke five Buffalo tackles to get the first down and keep the drive alive.

After forcing Buffalo to punt on its ensuing possession, New York drove to the Bills’ 35-yard line. But on fourth and two, Smith tackled Anderson for a 2-yard loss. Buffalo then took over and stormed down the field, advancing 63 yards in just four plays and scoring on a 31-yard burst from running back Thurman Thomas on the first play of the fourth quarter, regaining the lead at 19-17. Thomas’ fourth quarter touchdown run marked 1,000 points scored in Super Bowl history (1,001 with the extra point).

However, before the Bills’ defenders had a chance to catch their breath, they found themselves back on the field trying to contain another long Giants drive. This one went for 14 plays and 74 yards, half of which came off passes from Hostetler to tight end Mark Bavaro, and took another 7:32 off the clock. The Bills managed to halt the drive at their own 3-yard line when linebacker Cornelius Bennett broke up Hostetler’s third down pass, but Bahr kicked his second field goal to give New York a 20-19 lead.

On the Bills’ ensuing possession, they could only advance to their own 41-yard line before having to punt, enabling the Giants to take more time off the clock. The Bills finally forced New York to punt and took the ball at their own 10-yard line with 2:16 remaining. Kelly then led them down the field with a mix of scrambles, short passes, and Thomas runs. Buffalo drove to the Giants’ 29-yard line, setting up Norwood for a 47-yard field goal attempt with eight seconds left. However, his kick sailed wide right, less than a yard outside of the goalpost upright.

There were many impressive performances in the game by players from both teams. Jim Kelly completed 18 of 30 passes for 212 yards with no interceptions, while adding another 23 yards on six rushing attempts. Jeff Hostetler completed 20 of 32 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for 10 yards. Dave Meggett recorded 129 combined net yards (48 rushing, 18 receiving, 37 punt return, 26 kickoff return). But the best performances came from both teams’ starting running backs. Ottis Anderson rushed for 102 yards, caught a pass for seven yards, and scored a touchdown. Thurman Thomas scored a touchdown, rushed for 135 yards, and caught five passes for 55 yards, giving him 190 total yards from the line of scrimmage. Thomas’ 135 yards are the most yards rushing for a member of a losing team. This was also only the second Super Bowl to have two 100-yard rushers.

The defensive game plan for the Giants, written by defensive coordinator Bill Belichick, has been included in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Giants’ triumph helped Belichick and wide receivers coach Tom Coughlin make their names and eventually land head-coaching jobs with the Cleveland Browns and Boston College, respectively. Currently, Belichick is head coach of the New England Patriots, while Coughlin went from Boston College to be the first-ever head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and is currently the head coach of the Giants. Giants head coach Bill Parcells retired shortly after winning his second Super Bowl with the Giants. However, he has coached three other teams since then: the New England Patriots (whom he helped bring to Super Bowl XXXI) from 1993-1996, the New York Jets from 1997-1999, and the Dallas Cowboys from 2003-2006. Both Coughlin and Belichick have gone on to win Super Bowls as head coaches: Belichick with the Patriots in Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII, and XXXIX; Coughlin with the Giants in Super Bowl XLII, ironically against Belichick’s Patriots.

This was the first Super Bowl in which neither team committed a turnover. The only other Super Bowl to date without a turnover is Super Bowl XXXIV, in which the St. Louis Rams defeated the Tennessee Titans 23-16.

Ethical Expectations You Should Expect From Your Business Broker

Some business brokers belong to certain associations that have a code of ethics for brokers to follow. These, along with their own code of ethics, help ensure business brokers are of value to a business seller and buyer. A code of ethics ensures that a business broker puts the needs of the client before their own when making a business transaction.

What Is Gross Profit Evaluation and Optimization? How Can a Part Time CFO Help?

A vital aspect that many companies often overlook in running a business is the area of gross profit optimization. This is what is left over after costs associated directly with the sale of a product or service, such as materials and direct labor, are paid for. This is an extremely important number for every business to manage, as it impacts both the likelihood of reaching breakeven and the amount of profit that is earned beyond breakeven.

Celebrating Nigerian Youths as the Country Marks 50

The fireworks is in the air and the funfare continues. Nigeria is 50
and though many feel there is little or nothing to celebrate, some
quite few believe that for the fact that we are alive and our nation
is still existent despite the challenges it has undergone, there is a
reason to jubilate as Nigeria celerates her independence anniversary
50 years after it ceased being a British colony on 1st October, 1960.

The exploits of Nigerians in various parts of the globe is one of the
things that often brings joy to many Nigerians. For this reason, many
say we could celebrate but most of these high achievers were able to
make their mark on individual platforms. But let us not forget, that
in one way or the other, many of them passed through the Nigerian
system.

A closer look at many of these Nigerians of class shows that they were
young when they reached the heights they attained, of which has
brought great prestige to Nigeria.

Chinua Achebe, who is known as the father of modern African literature
is known world over for his literary prowess. His most popular work
which has been translated to over 40 languages, ‘Things Fall Apart,’
was written when he was just 28!

In recent times, after several years of retrogression in Nigerian
literary circles, there is a sudden bounce back and ressurgence of
Nigerian literature in the international scene. The new faces of
Nigerian literature; multiple award wining Helon Habila, Chimamanda
Adiichie, Chika Unigwe, Uwem Akpan, Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani and others
are mostly young people.Adichie’s second novel,’Half of a Yellow Sun’,
named after the flag of the short-lived Biafran nation, is set before
and during the Nigerian Civil War. It was awarded the 2007 Orange
Prize for Fiction. Chimamanda is also a 2008 MacArthur Fellow.

Emmanuel Ifeajuna a young millitary officer brought great joy to the
nation when he clinched the first gold medal in an international
competition. Before he joined the army, Ifeajuna, then a medical
student at the University College Ibadan, earned for himself the
honour of being the first black African to win a gold medal when he
won the high jump in Canada at the Commonwealth Games in 1954. He also
set a record. Many years after, Chioma Ajunwa, a young police officer
brought the first Olympic Gold medal to Nigeria in the long jump event
at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America.
Nojim Maiyegun, a boxer was the first Nigerian to win a medal at the
Olympics. He won the bronze medal in the light middle weight category
in Tokyo’64 Olympics.

Richard Ihetu, popularly known as Dick Tiger a renowned Nigerian boxer
became the first man in the world to win the Middle weight Category on
23rd October, 1962 and the Light Heavy weight category in 1967.

Kanu Nwankwo at 20, captained the Under 23 team, pioneering them to
also pick the gold medal in the Atlanta Olympic Games. The team showed
a lot of promise that it was tagged the Dream Team by the Nigerian
press.Kanu who is the most decorated Nigerian footballer, won the
African Footballer of the Year in 1996 and 1999 becoming the first and
yet the only Nigerian to win it twice.

Before then, the Under 17 team and the Under 16 team had emmerged
winners in the then World Youth Soccer Championships staged in Japan
in 1993 and China in 1985 respectively. The 1985 youth team captained
by Nduka Ugbade showcased Nigeria’s soccer prowess to the world. The
golden eaglets, again in 2007 won the Under 17 world cup. The senior
national team won the African Nations Cup in 1980 and 1994. The Super
Eagles were in the world cup for the first time in 1994 where they had
an amazing display but crashed out in the second round.

Samson Siasia, a young Nigerian coach who led the Flying Eagles to the
second place in Holland 2005 Under 20 World Cup as well as the Under
23 team to pick the silver medal in the Beinjing 2008 Olympics was
rated the 15th best coach in the world and the 2nd in Africa in 2008
by the Federation of International Football Association(FIFA) and

In the Nigerian music industry that had the old and the young,
Innocent Idibia popularly known as Tuface brought a new dimension to
inductry when he won the inaugral MTV Europe Awards African Act award
in 2005 at 29. His feat seemed to open doors in the industry as it was
followed by a boom and explosion of talents in the music scene. Today,
Nigerian musicians are known all over Africa and the world at large
churning out technically sound videos.`Most of these videos are
produced and directed by very young Nigerians.

Before then, Nigeria’s Agbani Darego became Miss World in 2001. Her
emmergence also brought an upsurge in beauty pageants and fashion
shows in the country. Thesame could be said s regards reality shows
after Bayo Adetomiwa’s involventment in Big Brother Africa 1 in
2003.In 2009 Nigeria’s Kevin Pam Chuwang emmerged tops in the 4th
edition of the reality show winning a whopping 0,000.Dare Art Alade
had earlier been part of the first Project Fame academy(before Project
Fame west Africa).

Nollywood, which is Nigeria’s movie, rated the 2nd in the world in
terms of volume of films produced, by the United Nations Educational
Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO) in 2009 is majorly what
it is today because of many talented young Nigerian actors and
actresses. The production of Living In Bondage, the first contemporary
Nigerian home video by young Kenneth Nnebue, an entrepreneur is said
to be what kick-started Nigeria’s multi billion naira movie industry,
nollywood which is one of the highest employers of Nigerias’ youth.

Interestingly, Chineze Anyaene, the producer of Ije the journey- a
nollywood and hollywood movie collaboration which is currently making
waves in Nigerian cinemas is just 26.Another nollywood sensation The
Figurine, a movie that clinched most of the awards at the 2010 African
Movie Academy Awards was directed by another young Nigerian, Kunle
Afolayan.

Notable young actors and actresses in the Nigerian film industry such
as Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Ramsey Nouah, Desmond
Eliot, Stephnie Okereke, Ini Edo have become house hold names in
Africa, the Carribean and among Nigerians in diaspora. Only recently
Oprah Winfrey described Genevieve Nnaji as the Julia Roberts of
Africa.

Phillip Emeagwali, the ineternet wizard won the 1989 Gordon Bell Prize
at 35 for his use of a Connection Machine supercomputer to help
analyze petroleum fields. Jelani Aliyu of General Motors(GM) in the
United States of America, one of the worlds top ten car designers lead
the Team that designed Chevrolet Volt, a car that is seen as the
future of GM. Fiften year old Kimberly Anyadike became the youngest
African American female to fly coast to coast in a private airline. She
made history piloting a single-engine red-tail four-seater Cessna 172
airplane from Compton, California to Newport in 2009. Today, in
Nigeria and in the diaspora there are many young Nigerians who have
perfected in the art of website designing and hosting.

Many young people have also risen to become an inspiration to their
generation through advocacy, motivational messages and laudable
projects aimed making life better for their peers. Worthy of note is
Fela Durotoye, a youth sensation who is immensely popular among young
Nigerians. In his ‘Mushin Make Over’ project, held in December, 2009,
he was able to galvanise 800 professional painters and about 5000
volunteers who painted buildings, and cleaned drainages, painted
culverts and roundabouts in the slum.

Nigerian youths have also been victims of manipulation by the elites
and political class. The field work durring the rigging of elections
and thuggery are perpertuated mainly by young people. The arson,
maiming and looting that are mostly involved durring ethnic and
religious clashes are often carried out by youths. One would also not
deny the menace of various campus cult groups over the years.

However, Nigerian youths have had causes to get involved in mass
protests which turned violent in some instances as a result of clashes
with security operatives durring the millitary junta. The Ali Must Go
riots in 1977 when University undergraduates protested the hike in
their school feesled to the closure of Universities for months. Sme
students lost their lives in the process. The SAP(Structural
Adjustment Programme) riots of 1990 and the June 12 riots of 1993
which came after the annulment of the freeest abd fairest election in
the history of Nigeria; are also instances where Nigerian youths stood
up against oppressive policies and decisions. It came with a price-the
loss of many innocent lives from the gunshots of ruthless millitary
men.

Nigeria’s darkest time in its history is the civil war which lasted
from 1967 to 1970. The prominent elements in the war, the Nigerian
head of state, General Yakubu Gowon and the Military Gorvernor of
Eastern Nigeria, General Odumegwu Ojukwu were 33 and 34 years
respectively when the war broke out. Maybe the war could have been
averted if these leaders were older and more experienced. But it was
obvious that at their age, both leaders were men of purpose who were
leading very vibrant people who looked up to them and beieved in them.

While Nigeria and its youths are celebrated and their misadventures
are pointed out, a lot of empathy needs to be shown to the legion of
unemployed Nigerian youths especially the graduates, roaming the
streets and stuck in cyber cafes applying for advertised jobs that
have already been taken. The presence of only few job openings has made
the Nigerian labour market over saturated, yet several thousand youths
will still graduate yearly to join the market.

At, 50, Nigeria can boast of many internet savvy young Nigerians while
at the same time there are still many ignorant without formal
education or not privilleged enough to be in tune with the modern
times. As Nigeria steps into the begining of the march to another
golden jubilee or rather, a march to centenary of its existence, would
the future be better for Nigerian youths? Or would they continue to
suffer from the abuse meted out by a failed older generation?

Many foreigners with close ties to Nigeria often wonder how Nigerians
manage to take life easy even in a myriad of poor infrastructure and
bad leadership. A walk along the parks and streets would testify this.
You would see a bus conductor calling out the names of the rickety
bus’s destinations in a very melodious manner. The truck pusher
working under the hot sun would still give you a smile even though he
has not had a meal. School children trekking long distances to and fro
school would still not fail to greet their elders who walk past them.
For these reasons, Nigerians were once rated the happiest people in
the world. Perharps, it is because of the kind of resilience that
Nigerians, especially the young ones have shown in their quest to make
it in life against all odds.Nigerian youths are capable of doing big
things and tackling big challeneges.

As 2011 election approaches,it is interesting to know that a coalition
of various Nigerian groups pioneered by youths have decided to rise up
and educate their peers on the need to vote and vote wisely. They
maintain that if the young people do not stand up now to make a
statement then the polity would be so depleted by the time the
leadership of the country would come into their hands. It is such that
their being conversant with the internet vis-a-vis the various social
networking sites would be an asset to bring this to pass. It would be
exciting to see video clips of attempts to rig elections and some of
the misdemeanours of the law enforcement agencies on CNN I-report,
facebook and twitter!

With such an awareness, Nigeria’s young people would not only secure a
better leadership for themselves in future but would also make many
individual breakthroughs in various spheres of life.

A spin-off of Grey’s Anatomy, the series chronicles the life of Dr. Addison Montgomery, played by Kate Walsh, as she leaves Seattle Grace Hospital in order to join a private practice in Los Angeles. The series was created by Shonda Rhimes, who also serves as executive producer alongside Betsy Beers, Mark Gordon, Mark Tinker and Jon Cowan & Robert Rovner, who serve as showrunners due to Rhimes’s duties on Grey’s Anatomy.

Charlotte later decides she does not want to tell anyone she was raped, not even Cooper. Later everyone finds out but Charlotte won?t identify Lee McHenry, her rapist. Later we find out Violet was raped while she was in college. Then Charlotte decides to identify Lee because Sheldon tells her to do so. She goes there but because she did not accuse him and because of the long history about Charlotte not telling the lawyer does not accept to charge Lee.

Meanwhile, Charlotte and Cooper try to be intimate again; a patient’s wife and mistress disagree on his treatment, complicating life for Pete and Amelia; and Violet considers publishing a personally revealing book that she has written.

My Favourite English Sporting Icons

My dad is a sports fan and during my early life i also became a keen sports fan. As a sports fan I thought I would list my favourite English sporting icons that I have followed during my lifetime from the 1960′s to the present day.

My first sporting hero was Graham Hill the 2 times World Formula one Champion in 1962 and 1968. I am also a fan of other great drivers including: Barry Sheen MotorCyclist World Champion and Formula One Champions James hunt, Nigel mansell, Jensen Button and Lewis hamilton. Many a time in the 1980′s watching Nigel Mansell racing in Formula One wheel to wheel with Ayerton Senna was intoxicating.

When England won the football World Cup in 1966 against Germany the English team became icons worldwide. I was 5 years old and have memories of watching the final (on our black and white TV). The whole team were greats and ever since we won the world cup the shadow of 1966 has haunted English football teams. In the 1970 F.A. Cup Final Chelsea were playing Leeds United and my brother mark chose to back Chelsea and I

backed Leeds United. Chelsea won the final after a replay and I followed Leeds united all through the 1970′s. The team included the hardest shooter in World Football History -

Peter Lorimer whose shots were registered at over 130 miles an hour.

My favourite players past and present include: Gordon Banks, Bobby Moore, Jimmy Greaves, Gary Lineker, David Beckham.

At Bayhouse Secondary School I ran 1500 metres against other local schools at Portsmouths Alexandria Stadium so this created an interest in athletics. I remember watching David Bedford break the World 10,000M record in 1973 and destroying the field.

During the seventies and eighties English athletes ruled the world and to name a few: Seb Coe, Steve Ovett, Daley Thompson, Linford Christie etc.

I have always been a fan of Rowing and followed Sir Steve Redgrave at all of his 5 Gold Medal winning Olympics was amazing.

My sporting hero’s today include: Lewis Hamilton, Jensen Button, Phillips Idowu, David Beckham, Ben Ainslie, Johnny Wilkinson, Rebecca (Becky) Adlington and the new Rugby Union sensation Chris Ashton.

My favourite English Sporting icons:
